Running is full of strange intimacies. The routes you return to, the rituals you repeat, the gear you trust, even the fears you keep trying to outrun. Spend enough time with them and they start to feel like companions.

For Zalando x On, and the launch of the Cloudboom Volt, we took that attachment seriously enough to frame it as a love story. A relationship between the runner, the shoe and the shadow that follows them both. Always there, never ahead, never falling behind.

The shadow became the visual logic of the campaign. We rotated frames to keep it upright, turning streets on their side and letting the ground become the sky. The runner and their shadow move through these graphic, almost symmetrical compositions as if they were locked into the same rhythm. A romantic soundtrack pushes the idea further, borrowing the language of a love story and setting it against the physical reality of performance.

We chose real runners, a soundtrack borrowed from old love songs, all built around the same thought: the things that carry you can become objects of devotion too and they’ll always be…RIGHT BY YOUR STRIDE.
